When a Business Is Really an Ownership Platform

Many enterprises are structured as holding companies, even if they are not described that way day to day.

What Holding Company Valuation Means

Holding company valuation is the valuation of an ownership interest, not just the valuation of individual assets.


It requires:

  • Understanding how operating businesses, real estate, cash, and investments interact
     
  • Recognizing differences between control and minority interests
     
  • Accounting for layered entities and varying ownership percentages
     
  • Reconciling asset-level values into a coherent ownership-level conclusion
